Clayton

THE WHO-WHAT-WHY

After 4 years of working in pharmaceutical research, Clayton decided to try out the other side of his brain for awhile. He left the East Coast to study photography and sculpture at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. Clayton’s art is greatly influenced by seemingly common things, the serendipitous experiences in life.

By incorporating these common items into sculpture, transcendence occurs. Clayton also creates functional sculpture. He uses concrete, one of the world’s oldest building materials to make coffee tables, countertops and fireplace mantles for the home. Currently he resides in Oakland Ca. with his wife Sammi and son, Canyon.

THE BUZZ

“Clayton Bain's "Surf Table" and "Fish Table" are concrete- and cherry-colored woodworks that are practical, beautiful, and quirky.”
